The new season of Women’s Own got off to a brilliant start with a most entertaining, interesting and informative illustrated talk given by Ashley Smith of the Hawk Conservancy. Visitors were welcomed and even some men came!
We learnt about its humble beginnings and development into the thriving concern it is today, steered by a family passionate about the conservation of wildlife and keen to educate the public.
The talk was interspersed with amusing anecdotes about family life, resident or visiting birds and other animals, visitors and staff.
It is certainly going to be top of my list of places to visit in the near future.
The following meeting on October 15th was the skittles evening in the British Legion, with a light buffet included.
Woman’s Own always welcomes new members. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, usually in the church centre at 7.30pm.
