Fresh pork from our farm

Our fresh pork sold in the shop is bred and reared on our smallholding from our Saddleback and Large White pigs.  As we only have a small number of pigs we are able to give the best quality of life.

We bring our sows indoors to farrow* down where we can make sure the sows and piglets have the warmth and comfort they need whilst small.  Then at 8 weeks we wean the piglets where they are kept near home, outdoors if good weather, so we can get them used  to being handled and friendly.  At approximately 10 weeks we then move them to an area outdoors where they have the freedom to run in a large area full of trees and bushes and lots to furrow.  We are happy to slow-rear our animals and let them grow at their own pace. When we feel they have naturally got to the size we then can supply them to the shop where you can enjoy pork full of flavour and know the animals have had a good life.

The sows, in between piglets, have lots of rest and again enjoy an outdoor life, treated more like pets than farm animals
