Village Maintenance Day

This month:

Scout Hut area

Meet outside the
village hall
at  10.30am (max 2 hrs)

Subject to approval, the team will be tackling the area around the scout hut in Eastsands. Afterwards, volunteers can enjoy a cold (or hot!) drink in the Burbage & Easton Royal British Legion Club.

We would like some volunteers to help us please! Village Maintenance Days are now a regular event, happening on the third Saturday of every month and each with a different theme. You don’t have to attend every one of the events.

Litter Picking

With enough people involved, we are able to carry out litter picking on the same day, to keep our village, your home, looking great! Children are welcome to come along and assist with litter picking, as some of the main tasks are not suitable for children.

All volunteers are covered by our insurance. If you want to bring powered machinery along, please contact one of the team first.

The Burbage Parish Council
Village Maintenance Team
are looking for volunteers to join the

Street Warden
scheme

Being a Street Warden is a voluntary post which can be held for as long as you like - there is no commitment to sign up for any length of time! You will be undertaking to walk around your chosen area/street at least once a month and inform the team of anything that needs to be looked into, repaired or improved. The scheme will be led by the Parish Council Village Maintenance Team (PCVMT) who can adapt it according to the feedback received from any Street Wardens who may like to take on a more active role

And that’s all there is to it!

Ideally the team would like at least one volunteer from every road. Longer roads would benefit from having more than one Street Warden as well as other off-road areas. The team would like to publish a list of active Wardens and their areas, so residents know who they can talk to if they want to ask or mention something. Being included on the list is optional, so you have the choice!

Street Wardens are NOT expected to tackle maintenance repairs or social/domestic issues. The role is intended to be purely observation and liaison with the PCVMT. If the role develops from there, any additional activity/ies will only be by mutual agreement.

If you are interested in becoming a Street Warden, email the team at:

pcvmt@burbage-village.co.uk

Or telephone any member of the team:

Keith:  811 350

Colin:  810 518

Gavin: 811 990

Tony:  810 641

They will contact you during July to discuss the scheme and give you all the information needed. Street Wardens can choose to cover any area(s) of the village, including footpaths and open areas.

The following
Village Maintenance Day
is on
Saturday 21st August 2010
Theme:
Westcourt Pond
(subject to approval)
and litter pick!

Burbage News

There will be a ‘special edition’ of the Burbage News for August. If you have any letters, articles, dates or ?, please email bneditor@burbage-village.co.uk as soon as possible! RUBBISH COLLECTIONS & RECYCLING

ARE YOU AWARE the council are doing a waste collection and recycling survey? The aim is to harmonise the four different collections throughout Wiltshire.

There is an online survey (or paper version in the library) to vote for or against the new proposals. For those of us who live in the former Kennet District, it really is a win, win, win situation.
Regular household rubbish (fortnightly collection, so no change)
Recycling – black box (alternative week, so no change)
Kerbside collection of plastic bottles and cardboard (Save all that loading car and taking to car park or tip)
Non chargeable kerbside collection of garden waste every 2 weeks (FREE instead of £26 {?} fee at present)

So do your bit and vote (before 20th August) and pass the message on to your local friends.
